We like that AWeber only has one price plan that changes based on the number of subscribers you have. It makes it easy to pick the right one straight away, without having to check a long table to compare different offers with varying features.

They have recently added a free plan to their offering, though with a limit of 500 subscribers, you'll need to move onto a paid plan fairly quickly. Unfortunately, AWeber isn’t our favorite email marketing solution, ranking rather low in our own table. Their features underwhelmed us, and the user experience is passable at best. Still, if your mind is set on this company, here is their offer:

AWeber Pricing: What Do I Get?

AWeber costs $19.99 per month for up to 500 subscribers, $29.99 per month for up to 2,500 subscribers, $49.99 per month for 5,000, and $149.99 per month for up to 25,000 subscribers.

There is a free plan, which includes a lot of the paid features, unfortunately, limits you to just 500 subscribers.

So as you can see, many competitors like MailerLite or MailChimp offer a much more generous free plan, making AWeber's paid plans much less attractive. AWeber is generally quite expensive, and you can get even more features for cheaper with other companies, like Sendinblue. But let’s see what features you get below:

Additional AWeber pricing remarks

  • Like with many other email marketing platforms, you are automatically bumped to the next tier if your subscribers go over the limit.
  • If users are undeliverable / hard bounced, they are automatically removed from your lists.
  • However, unsubscribed users still count towards your billing! So make sure you check regularly and remove unsubscribed users manually. Once you delete unsubscribed contacts from your list, any report data regarding their unsubscription rates will disappear.
  • You can cancel your subscription at any time.
  • If you have a larger list (25K and up, see our tips on how to grow your list), you'll get assigned a dedicated agent who will help you get set up.
  • If you need help with the design, they can also help with that.

As we mentioned earlier, AWeber isn’t our favorite solution for managing email marketing and newsletters. And they are not doing themselves any favors with their pricing and plans, especially by counting unsubscribed users towards your billing.

You get much more for your money with tools like ActiveCampaign and GetResponse, which both offer a range of advanced features that AWeber doesn't, for example, advanced automations, CRM, sales funnels, dynamic landing pages, and more. Alternatively, there are much more affordable tools, which still have more features. MailerLite, for instance, is an excellent tool for beginners and also comes with a great landing page builder and design templates.

FAQ

As mentioned above, any email address added counts as a subscriber in terms of your monthly quota – even if that person unsubscribes!

Here’s their explanation for it:

“While these unsubscribes cannot be mailed to, many of our customers still find the information associated with these unsubscribes to be useful to see when a subscriber may have unsubscribed, and what the last message they were sent before unsubscribing was.”

(via email from Aweber’s support)

You should therefore regularly delete your unsubscribes manually to make sure you are not charged extra – or just use an email service provider that follows a fairer approach to counting contacts. AWeber does not charge for anybody listed as Confirmation Pending.

Yes, AWeber has recently added a freemium plan to their offering, which has a good range of features but a small subscriber allowance. These services offer much more generous free plans.

No, you’ll need to pay monthly based on your list size. Moosend is a better choice if you need a pay-as-you-go plan.
