AWeber Pricing - Simple Plans, But Worth It?

Professor
AWeber pricing detals

We like that AWeber only has one price plan that changes based on the amount of subscribers. It makes it easy to pick the right one straight away, without having to check a long table to compare different offers with varying features. But unfortunately, AWeber isn’t our favourite email marketing solution, ranking rather low in our own table. Their features underwhelmed us, and the user experience is passable at best. Still, if your mind is set on this company, here is their offer:

AWeber Pricing: What Do I Get?

AWeber costs $19 per month for up to 500 subscribers, $29 per month for up to 2,500 subscribers, $49 per month for 5,000, and $149 per month for up to 25,000 subscribers. There is no free plan, but a free trial period of 30 days. All the tiers include the same features.

So as you can see, many competitors like MailerLite or MailChimp offer the equivalent of their $19 monthly plan for free. This makes AWeber generally quite expensive, and you can get even more features for cheaper with other companies. But let’s see what features you get below:

Additional AWeber pricing remarks

  • Like with many other email marketing platforms, you are automatically bumped to the next tier if your subscribers go over the limit.
  • If users are undeliverable / hard bounced, they are automatically removed from your lists.
  • However, unsubscribed users still count towards your billing! So make sure you check regularly and remove unsubscribed users manually.
  • You can cancel your subscription at any time.

As we mentioned earlier, AWeber isn’t our favourite solution for managing email marketing and newsletters. And they are not doing themselves any favours with their pricing and plans, especially by counting unsubscribed users towards your billing.

The lack of a free plan also means you need to start paying straight away (or after the 30 day trial), and even the entry level offer is rather expensive for up to 500 subscribers at $19 per month. You get much more for your money with tools like ActiveCampaign. And while their later tiers are more in line with the competition, you can still find cheaper and with more features by using MailerLite, for instance.

As mentioned above, any email address added counts as a subscriber in terms of your monthly quota – even if that person unsubscribes! You should therefore regularly delete your unsubscribes manually to make sure you are not charged extra. AWeber does not charge for anybody listed as Confirmation Pending.
